Autumn on the Erie Sells Out in Support of Laurel House
Autumn on the Erie: Dinner on the Bridge is sold out! On Friday, October 2, Newark’s Historic Erie Canal Bridge will be filled with people coming together for an evening in support of Laurel House Comfort Care Home.
Organizers expect approximately 100 people at the event, including dinner guests and volunteers. It is an exciting turnout and a meaningful show of support for a place that cares for our neighbors and their families during one of life’s hardest times.
Laurel House is a comfort care home here in Newark for people nearing the end of life. It offers residents a warm place to spend their final days, surrounded by loved ones and cared for by staff and trained volunteers. It also supports families when caring for someone at home may no longer be possible. Families are not required to pay for care. Community generosity helps make that possible.
That is what gives this dinner its purpose. Guests will enjoy an evening on one of Newark’s most recognizable landmarks, with charcuterie, a buffet dinner, desserts, custom cocktails, music by Debbie Abbott, and a silent auction. They will also be spending that evening in support of the people who make Laurel House a welcoming place for local families.
A sold out event is wonderful news, and it is worth pausing to appreciate what it represents. People made room in their calendars to be there. Volunteers are giving their time to bring the evening together. Our community has shown, once again, that it wants Laurel House to be there when families need it.
Thank you to everyone who purchased a ticket, helped spread the word, or is volunteering for the event. We are excited to see the bridge full of familiar faces on October 2.
If you missed out on tickets but would still like to support Laurel House, you can make a donation directly through its website. The opportunity to help local families continues long after one evening on the bridge.
