Light Up Main Street: Registration Opens for Newark’s 3rd Annual Lighted Parade

NEWARK, NY — Registration is officially open for Newark’s 3rd Annual Lighted Parade, returning to Main Street on Saturday, November 28, 2026, as part of the community’s Home for the Holidays celebration.

The Lighted Parade has quickly become one of Newark’s newest holiday traditions, bringing businesses, organizations, families, community groups and plenty of creatively decorated vehicles together to help kick off the Christmas season.

This year’s parade will step off at 5:15 p.m., filling Main Street with lights as the procession makes its way through the village. The parade is part of a full evening of Home for the Holidays activities, including festivities in Central Park, the Community Christmas Tree Lighting and Santa’s arrival.

And now, it is time to start building the parade.

Who Can Participate?

The Home for the Holidays Committee is inviting local businesses, nonprofit organizations, clubs, school groups, sports teams, first responders, families and other community groups to join this year’s parade.

Entries can be as simple or as elaborate as you want to make them. Decorate a truck, trailer, tractor, van or other vehicle, add plenty of lights, gather your group and become part of the show.

The most important ingredient is lights — lots of them.

Over its first two years, the parade has grown into a major part of Newark’s holiday kickoff. Last year, spectators lined the parade route several people deep as lighted vehicles traveled through the village. Now, organizers are hoping to make the third year even bigger.

The Lighted Parade takes place during Newark’s Home for the Holidays celebration on Saturday, November 28.

Lighted Parade Step-Off: 5:15 p.m.
Location: Main Street, Newark, NY
Community Tree Lighting: Approximately 6:15 p.m. in Central Park

Additional parade lineup and participant instructions will be provided to registered entries as the event gets closer.
