A Little Straw, A Lot of Personality: Newark’s Scarecrows Are Arriving
Main Street is getting dressed for fall, and our first scarecrows are already giving us reasons to stop and smile. Local families, businesses, and organizations are bringing their creativity downtown, turning familiar stretches of sidewalk into something a little more playful.
Part of the fun is seeing what everyone comes up with. Each display reflects the people behind it, and together they give us another reason to get outside, wander through town, and enjoy Newark in the fall. Grab a coffee, stop into a local business, and meet the characters taking up seasonal residence along the way.
We’ll be adding photos and introductions to this post as more creations arrive, so check back throughout the decorating season. There’s still time to join us, too! Registration stays open until the available spots are filled, and participants have until October 11 to decorate. Visit Your Newark News for registration information.

Find it: On Main Street, outside Runaway Blue Brewing Company
Our first official scarecrow is up, and Runaway Blue has delivered! This character looks ready to settle in for a little Great Pumpkin watching, and honestly, we appreciate the commitment. Every town needs someone willing to keep an eye out for a seasonal celebrity.
While we wait to see whether the Great Pumpkin makes an appearance, we’re happy to have this new neighbor bringing some fall fun to Main Street. Thank you to Runaway Blue Brewing Company for getting the season started. The pumpkin watch is officially underway!
Teddy’s Pumpkin Patch

Find it: On Main Street, in front of Runaway Blue Brewing Company
Oh my gosh, guys, how cute is Teddy’s Pumpkin Patch? The Fose family has brought a little patch of happiness to downtown Newark, and this sweet creation deserves a spot on your next Main Street stroll.
Teddy seems to have figured out the secret to a good fall day: find yourself a pumpkin patch, get comfortable, and let everyone else rush around. There’s something awfully charming about a little display that makes you slow down and smile. Thank you to the Fose family for sharing your creativity with the community and giving Teddy such a delightful place to spend the season!
