Have a Story to Share? Help Us Tell Newark’s Stories
There’s plenty happening around Newark that never makes it beyond a conversation, a flyer on a counter, or a post that disappears down a social media feed. A student accomplishes something worth celebrating. A local business reaches a milestone. Volunteers quietly put hours into a project that makes our community better. Those are stories we want to hear.
Your Newark News has a story submission form to make it easier to share those updates with Notes from Newark, our community blog about what’s happening, who’s making it happen, and why it matters.
We welcome community news and announcements, school and student achievements, local sports updates, business news, upcoming events, local history, and photographs that capture life around Newark. You can also suggest someone who deserves recognition—especially the people whose contributions might otherwise go unnoticed.
You Don’t Have to Write the Article
You don’t need a polished press release or a perfectly written story. Tell us what you know: who is involved, what happened or is being planned, when and where it takes place, and what makes it meaningful. Background details, correctly spelled names, and a few words about the people behind it can help us tell a fuller story.
If you’re sharing an upcoming event, include the information someone would need to attend: dates, times, location, admission cost, registration details, and any helpful information about parking, accessibility, or weather plans. Submit it as early as you can so there is time to review the information and follow up if needed.
Photos, flyers, and supporting documents are welcome, too. Original photographs are especially helpful. Please identify who or what is pictured, include a photo credit, and make sure you have permission to share the material for publication. If your submission includes identifiable children, please make sure you are authorized to share their information and images.
Help Us Find the Stories We Might Otherwise Miss
You don’t have to be an event organizer or represent an organization to send something our way. Maybe you know a neighbor with an interesting connection to Newark’s history, a team celebrating an accomplishment, or a group working on something the community should know about. You can suggest a story even if you don’t have every detail.
Submissions will be reviewed for possible publication, and we may reach out with questions or to verify information. Sending a submission does not guarantee publication, and stories may be edited for clarity and length.
If something is happening around Newark that you think deserves a little attention, tell us about it. We can’t be everywhere, and your submissions help us discover more of the people, projects, and everyday moments that make this place home.
